Now that I have several months experience under my proverbial belt, I am looking to shake a few things up. We're going to give the Time4Learning folks a try for some supplimental for Gabe. He is WAY more attracted to PC games than listening to mom drone on about something.
Now, I do have to say I absolutely love the Verticy Phonics program, but I am concerned that the pace and sheer amount of subject material I'm trying to teach each evening is from the 'whole package' is too much. We are currently a week behind with plans to double all lessons during my vacation for Christmas. I feel bad that my little guy won't have a break, but then, neither am I. It is harder some days than others, and also, my son is Autistic, and we have our own difficulties.
Look for that review in a month or so.
A little blog about the ups and downs of being a homeschooling single parent.

Free Curriculum, Printables, and Lesson Sites
Free stuff rules, right? Especially when going at it on a budget and having to invest some dollars in curriculum supplies has kicked us in the groin on the budgeting (at least the monthly payment plan is the same as his former after-school program...)
Here are some links to free curriculum sites or worksheets or what-have-you.
- K-12 curriculum that teaches kids about Internet safety from all topic points.
- Ton of worksheets for handwriting and cursive practice. Plus some math and grammar
- Here is the method to request access to this 8th grade resource about Georgia history
- Lots of US history information here that includes lesson plans, print-outs, and you name it
- Amazingly large set of free information for various topics. I even found new Japanese pages to study.
- Cute and helpful printables and the rest of the site is pretty cool too.
- Outlines, and some are more thorough, free lesson plans
- Printables and Themes for planning lessons
- Great selection of musically oriented free homeschooling resources
- Changes monthly with free printables and lesson plans
... and many more. I'll keep updating this.
